Have a Ball Valentine {FREE PRINTABLE}

Getting down to the nitty gritty!  With just 5 days until Miss O's classroom Valentine's Day party, here is the last of the valentines.  Just grab some bouncy balls (I got mine at the ol' Hobby Lobby for 40% off of course!), print, and attach.  For the bags, I found mine in the baking section of, you guessed it, Hobby Lobby.  I then used Hettie to cut out the valentine and stapled it to the top of the bag.  When printing yours, simply fold and staple as well!

 You can get your Valentine topper HERE!

I do have a confession to make.  For her class party, Miss O was supposed to decorate a bag or box for the valentines she receives.  While grocery shopping, we found a foldable Valentine box.  I said OK.
I consider that some good self-care on my part!

A post from Miss O

Hi.  My name is Olivia and this is my toy pet.  Her full name is Kitta Kitta Meow Meow but I call her Kitta.  She likes to play a lot with me.  I like to be with her.  Right now she is taking a nap.  Earlier I was reading her the book I made called "The Wonder of the Shapes".  I like to take pictures.  So does my Momma and my PawPaw. I wanted to take pictures of Kitta so I could see them on my Mommy's computer.  I like to be in the Little Blue House because we all love each other and live in it.

Love,
Olivia Jean Fuller and Kitta

You are A-Maze-ing Valentine {Free Printable}

You are a-maze-ing Valentine is the second addition to Miss O's classroom Valentines.
I purchased the mazes at our local Michael's store for under $2.00...for 18 of them.
  You know here at the fiscally responsible LBH (ok sounds a little more sophisticated than thrifty) we love some bargains!

After some careful measuring (haha ask Buster about that-I am a measure once, cut 5 times kinda girl) I created the printable found HERE to use.  Cut out, attach maze with some double-sided tape, and DONE!

 In case you do not want to purchase the mazes, I have included a printable with a maze right on it.

Feel free grab it HERE and use it!

A wicked case of bronchitis is raging war in this house so Miss O has not been in school since last Thursday.  I put her to work today and she was my photographer for the day.  Here is her picture for this post!

(Not too bad-her PawPaw will be proud!)

Out of the Shoebox {Book Review}

Out of the shoe box.  Little did I know that the title would be so intertwined with my own life.  This book, written by Yaron  Reshef, is an amazing story of one man's discovery.  What started this journey was a simple phone call about property his father purchased over 70 years before.  On that property he found a shoe box that led him to a knowledge of his family he never could have imagined.  This story discussed the struggle Yaron's family had to survive the Holocaust and it's devastating effects after.  I do not want to give anymore way as you MUST check this book out!

So how does this have to do with me?  I recently was able to read letters, out of a shoe box, that my grandmother wrote home while in a girls college in 1941.  I also read diaries her husband, my grandfather, wrote the last few years of his life.  It has caused some major soul searching and reminiscing on my part.  So many memories, and yes so many questions.  And as Mr. Reshef implies, so many questions and no one to ask.  This year is my year to re-connect and I can't wait to share a bit of where I come from with you!

Lemon Whip Cookies {Recipe}

Easy Cool Whip cookies

I made these cookies the other week and ate so many, I had to take the rest to work.  While they are a tad bit on the "healthier" side, eating 7 in a day probably not the best idea.  When people asked what was in the recipe, they couldn't believe it.  Cool-Whip?  Like the junk you throw on top of pumpkin pie?  You know it!  I remember back in the Atkins diet days when I would get a spoonful of peanut butter and then dip it in Cool-Whip. Anywhoos...

Just a warning, the dough will be extremely sticky.  Hang with it, you won't regret it!
