September Holidays

So this week had National Dog Day?  Who knew?!?  I can't believe I am not on the up and up for holidays.  I looked into what I needed to celebrate in September and WHOA...I have some celebrating to do!  Although I may strike the "Stay Away from Seattle Day".

Need to get some supplies for all the September celebrations?  Check out the great deals going on at Amazon.  It is my favorite place to get all the vinyl for my Silhouette projects!

Lunch Box Notes

So tomorrow Miss O is adventuring into the land of Hot Lunch.  That means a day off for me!!  I love making her a fun lunch, but DANG when can I throw a Lunchable in call it a day?  Everyday when I pack her lunch, I always add an Andes Mint (Like the Olive Garden-I know I know!) and a lunch box note.  The note always has a little handwritten note on back from Momma for her to read.  Lucky for her, my sister-AKA Aunt Boo-teaches there and reads them to her everyday.  Aunt Boo was making fun of today's lunch that consisted of goldfish, a starfish cookie, and a fish sandwich with a candy eye and smile.  Boo's response? "Really with today's lunch?  You need more to do with your time".  Little does she know how pissed I was I forgot Fruit Roll-Ups to make some seaweed out of!!!

You can grab a copy of my lunchbox notes HERE.  (I contemplated using a wine glass in lieu of the coffee mug, but figured that might not go over well!!)

Book Review: Where is My Home?

Terry Treetop is at it again!  This adorable children's book series uses the main character Terry to convey a message to the readers on important life lessons.  This red head, freckled little guy (reminds me of the Mr. in his youth) found himself lost after chasing a butterfly.  He finds himself wandering through the woods and meeting many a friend along the way.  After being unable to eat anything along the way from his new critter friends, he ends up home thankful for the good ol' home cooking of his mom!  Who doesn't love Momma's cooking?!?!

Miss O and I read this book together outside before the tropical heatwave hit.  We talked about the different "homes" of animals, insects, etc.  She did challenge me on where a spider's exact home was and why we kill them in our own!  After the book, we took a trip to Wildlife Prairie Park.  It is a local park where many habitats are found.  We happened to go on a day in which they were releasing 200 butterflies into their new butterfly garden.  Miss O had a great time with her cousins and was so respectful to the butterflies "home".

Lunch Bunch

Five more days and my girl starts Kindergarten.  I can't go into too much detail as we are out of Kleenex and Buster will start teasing me!  Can we say Post Toddler Depression?!?!  Miss O has some anxiety of her own...like eating a quick lunch since she will no longer be able to strip to her skivvies and throw on a movie during the lunch hour!  So Bento Tiny Bites to the rescue!  I found some amazing products on Amazon and have scoured Pinterest for some great ideas.  I have been dying to use the products but Miss O has made me promise NO FUN LUNCHES UNTIL SCHOOL STARTS!  Until I am given the green light by Princess, here are the links to what I purchased! ***UPDATE-I was able to make a lunch for blog purposes...see above picture!***

Book Review: In Too Deep

Confession.  I am a bookworm.  As in I fought my parents about not being able to read at the dinner table bookworm.  To me reading is an escape.  A good book will take you to places you could only dream of.  I was able to be approved by Tomoson to review some products on the Little Blue House and started it out right...I mean I like big books and I cannot lie :).

I received a copy of In Too Deep via Amazon digital books.  Written by Tracey Alvarez and part of the Due South Series, it tells the tale of a lost soul, her past greatly affecting her everyday life.  Returning home to face her demons, she is given the opportunity to reconnect with those she had alienated for her own self-preservation.  Now it is for sure not all doom and gloom.  The quaint town it is set in, sounds like a great place to vacation and get to know the locals. I do believe I could have a pint with the characters at the local pub aptly named "Due South".  I have yet to read that 50 Shades of Grey book, but the sex scenes in this book made me blush!  Holy hot romance!

This was a quick and easy read as well.  I could put it down and get right back into where I left off.  I can't wait to read more of the author and head back to Due South!

Fly over to Amazon or check out Tracey here to see more of her work!
