July 4th Fonts

1. estrellado tfb 2.oh my god stars 3. banner stars 4. uncle salsa

I have a confession.  I may or may not have a slight obsession with fonts.  Along with washi tape and Sharpies, fonts are another favorite to collect.  Fonts aren't just for your reports anymore you know.  Have you ever used PicMonkey?  For us non-Photoshoppers, it is a great program to edit pictures and make printables.  Now you can marry your fonts with theirs!  Here are 4 of my favorite fonts for all your Independence Day projects.

Coconut Poke Cake

Poke Cake.  Makes me giggle every time!  I remember my very first Poke Cake (insert giggle again).  It was the Jello Poke Cake (haha) from a high school retreat. YUM!  There is something so light and refreshing about this cake.  With the hot and muggy weather, this dessert is the perfect end to a summer BBQ.  Also, two great men in my life are lovers of all thing coconut so when I saw this recipe, I knew it would be a hit here. I have to keep Miss O's favorite playmate, AKA PawPaw, happy...and energized!

Miss O turns 5!

This amazing girl turned 5 this year.  I find myself falling more and more into the motherly cliches- "How time flies", "I can't imagine life without her", "She is the best thing to ever happen to me".  And it is all true.  There is something magical about turning 5 so of course it had to be a Unicorn/Rainbow theme!  We are truly blessed to have my parents' weekend getaway AKA The Riverhouse for the venue.  It is a little slice of heaven just a few miles for home...perfect place to party!

Great Grandma Donnelly Dip

My Great Grandmother (AKA Gram) was one heck of a woman.  She was the sweetest little lady around. I do not believe there was ever a day when there was not a smile on her face.  I remember that she always had lots and lots of Oreos to pass out.  She also always, always had a batch of this dip made.  Of course it has continued to be at every family function.  So simple, yet so amazing!

Let's Eat!

Wow...when will I get back into the swing of things?  Blame it on the Mr turning 40 party.  OK more likely it is because the new season of "Orange is the New Black" is out.  I am a total sucker for Crazy Eyes and the rest of the Litchfield gang.  And Netflix is a total enabler with binge watching.   I am however, still feeding my family so here is what I have rounded up.

Gotta go...Crazy Eyes is calling me!

10 Survival Activities for Summer

10 short  long, ok ok ok 10 weeks of summer that has yet to be determined!  Pretty sure it will fly by but WOW is that a lot of 1:1 time.  I was spoiled by the 3 free hours of PreK and know that when she is gone all day, I will wish for these moments back.

I was wanting to have at least one activity for Miss O and I to do a week to fit in during the lazy days of summer.  Here are the 10 on our list for now.  Always looking for new ideas so holla back some survival skills!

Stick O' Butter Rice

Photo courtesy of  Thirty Handmade Days
(We ate it all before I could grab a camera!)

If you do nothing else for your family, MAKE THIS!  The most incredible rice dish ever.  Healthy?  No.  Delicious?  Yes!  I found this recipe on Thirty Handmade Days.  You gotta check Mique out...I have a blog crush on her website!  I mentioned this to my mom and she was all "We used to make that all the time at Uncle Terry and Aunt Molly's except we added mushrooms".  Why did we ever stop?!?!  Let's go OLD SCHOOL!

***WARNING-If you double the recipe, and put in the same baking dish, it will be VERY HEAVY.  Like spill all over the bottom of a hot oven heavy...or at least that is what I heard!***
